Inventory Management

Inventory Management gives you a single place to see stock across warehouses, maintain item masters, and record movements (adjustments, receipts, issues, transfers) with a full transaction log and alerts.

Overview

Waqti inventory helps you:

  • Track on-hand quantity by item, warehouse, and optionally location
  • Define reorder points so low-stock conditions surface early
  • Record every stock change for audit and operations
  • Resolve alerts when you have addressed the underlying stock issue

Stock changes are processed through backend services (for example InventoryService) so rules stay consistent across the UI and integrations.

Stock list and filters

  1. Open InventoryItems (or Stock, depending on your menu)
  2. Use filters to narrow the list:
FilterUse case
WarehouseSee stock in one site only
CategoryFocus on a commodity group
Low stock / reorderItems at or below threshold
Search (name / SKU)Find a specific product

Refresh after transactions

After a goods receipt or transfer, refresh the list or reopen the item to see updated quantities.

Creating inventory items

Step 1: New item

  1. Click New Item (or Add inventory item)
  2. Complete the item master fields

Step 2: Core fields

FieldDescription
NameDescriptive label
SKUUnique stock keeping unit
Unitea, box, kg, etc.
CategoryFor reporting and catalog linkage
Initial stockStarting quantity (if allowed at creation)
Reorder levelThreshold for low-stock alerts
WarehouseDefault or first stocking location

Step 3: Save

Save the item. Initial stock may post an opening balance transaction depending on configuration.

Stock movements

Movements change on-hand quantity for a reason. Common types:

TypeTypical use
AdjustCorrections after cycle count
ReceiveStock in from PO/GRN or manual receipt
IssueConsumption or outbound to department
TransferMove quantity between warehouses

How to record a movement

  1. Open the item or the warehouse view
  2. Choose the movement action (Adjust, Receive, Issue, Transfer)
  3. Enter quantity, from/to warehouse (for transfers), and reference notes
  4. Confirm; the system updates stock through InventoryService (or equivalent) and appends the transaction log

Reference documents

Link movements to PO numbers or GRNs when prompted—this makes reconciliation and audit trails easier.

Transaction log

The transaction log (sometimes History or Movements) shows:

  • Date and time
  • Movement type
  • Quantity in/out
  • User or source (integration, GRN, manual)
  • Balance after the transaction

Use export or filters for period-end audits.

Alerts

AlertMeaningTypical resolution

Resolving alerts

  1. Open InventoryAlerts (or the notification center)
  2. Review the item and suggested action
  3. After you receive stock or correct data, mark the alert resolved or let the system clear it when quantity is above threshold
